Cold in Place Recycling
WHAT?
Cold in Place Recycling is the use of bonded and/or unbonded used road construction materials on the road by cold mixing, in which a machine is driven on top of the recycled or virgin subbase or an existing layer, performing the following technological steps:
- milling/grinding (shredding);
- addition of supplementary materials if necessary;
- addition of one or more binders and water;
- initial compaction (carried out by a soil roller following the cold recovery machine);
- profiling and compaction (carried out by a motor grader and pneumatic roller following the soil roller).
WHERE?
The service is available in all Lithuanian municipalities.
WHEN?
The service can be provided from March to December at air temperatures of at least +5°C (depending on how the bituminous emulsion producers start/finish the work)
WHY?
- Much shorter construction process.
- Minimal disruption to local residents.
- Good value for money in the longer term.
- Minor marking of the works - the design surface rises slightly compared to the existing situation (through the thickness of the newly prepared asphalt concrete pavement (a/b) layer (4-8 cm)).
- Implementing the Green Deal.
- Minimal/no addition of new materials.
- 1m2 cost approx. 20 euros + VAT. The price depends on the thickness of the layer and the amount of cement and emulsion added (the amount to be determined in the type test report).
- A high quality, modern technical solution that meets all the highest standards.
